WAYFARERS CELEBRATE ROYAL WEDDING WITH HISTORIC WEDDING DRESS EXHIBITION
In 2012, for the Queen’s Jubilee, Wayfarers Arcade presented a very special and well received exhibition of wedding dresses through the decades which proved of great interest and resulted in many visitors.
To celebrate the wedding of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle Wayfarers are once again to hold an historic exhibition of wedding dresses from as long ago as the 1920’s to the present day. All dresses have been donated for the exhibition by local people and are a historic record of how life has changed over those years.
Visitors will for instance see a 1920’s dress that is reminiscent of the fashion of that time, a 1940’s dress made from parachute silk because there was very little material to be had through the war years, and a very iconic 1970’s dress worn by a University student for her wedding in 1972.
All the dresses have a story behind them and the story will be displayed next to the dress along with a picture of the bride wearing the dress.
This is an exhibition not to be missed and you can view it from Tuesday 15 May until Sunday 27 May in Wayfarers Arcade.
