Wayfarers Arcade goes vintage

A SPECIALIST vintage-style homeware store is set to open its doors in Southport’s Wayfarers Arcade.

Vintage Home is being launched by Jill Skelton, with the help of her husband Andrew, at the Grade II listed arcade on Lord Street.

The store will stock an eclectic mix of contemporary and nostalgic pieces, which all add to the current trend of mixing old with new in the home. Its range will include enamel jugs to a French armoire and everything in between.

Jill, 44, from Southport, said: “My husband and I enjoy going to antique fairs around the country. We’ve always wanted to start our own business and it’s something we’ve often talked about so now we’ve decided to go for it.

“Wayfarers Arcade is the perfect place for us to launch Vintage Home because it has got a genuine period feel to it and it really lends itself to a shop selling traditional and retro style products. It is also located right in the centre of Southport and Wayfarers also attracts a lot of visitors and passing trade.

“It’s a really exciting time for us and, hopefully, with my interior design experience and passion for bringing individuality and character to our homes we can make Vintage Home a success.”

The mum-of-two has previously worked as an interior designer and spent the last five years at Laura Ashley in Birkdale until she recently left to launch Vintage Home.

Jill has sourced her stock from across the country, which will include ranges by Garden Trading and Bombay Duck, and she will be joined in the store by her two daughters, Rachael and Kristina, at weekends and during school holidays.

Yvonne Burns, Wayfarers Arcade manager, added: “Vintage Home will be a great addition to our growing mix of quality stores at Wayfarers. We would like to welcome Jill and her family business to the arcade and we wish them every success for the future.”
